Description

The Pelham is designed to be used with two reins, one attached to the top ring (snaffle) and the other to the lower ring (curb), which is used when additional leverage is needed. It can also be used with Roundings attached to a single rein, so the mouthpiece and flange come into action at the same time. The double joint copper pastille pelham has a softer effect in the mouth than other pelhams as it distributes pressure evenly across the tongue and bars of the mouth while reducing the effect of simple joint bites. Copper warms the horse and encourages them to saliva and accept bits. Double joint mouthpieces can reduce the way the flange comes into action and reduce direct character by applying greater pressure to the mouth bars. The small ring above the flange is used for a lip strap that is not essential but is correct for demonstrations and helps keep the curb chain flat. Pelham is ideal for stronger horses who can benefit from the activation of the rein, which puts pressure on the bars of the mouth, chin and chamfers to promote proper head wear. Measurements according to our size chart, the dimensions A and B of these bits are as follows: 4.5 - A = 16 mm & B = 125 mm. & 5. 5" - A = 16mm & B = 130mm 6" - A = 16mm & B = 140mm Stainless Steel Horse Bites...Stainless Steel is the most commonly used material for horse bites as it is durable, easy to clean and will not rust.
