The EC360 ALUMINUM M.2 SSD Cooler is a passive heatsink specially designed for high-end NVMe SSDs with the form factor M.2 2280. Using a sophisticated cooling solution is a must for getting the maximum performance out of an SSD as it throttles read/write speeds at elevated temperatures.
The included heat sink is the perfect size at 22 x 70 x 6 mm and comes with a double-sided thermal adhesive film of the type EC360 Tape Strong. A highly thermally conductive thermal adhesive film is essential to ensure excellent heat transfer to the cooler. At the same time, the adhesive film has a very strong adhesion, so that the cooler can be attached safely and easily even without screws.
Also included are several EC360 BLUE thermal pads in the thicknesses 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm, of which the thermal pad can be clamped between the motherboard and the bottom of the SSD with the appropriate thickness and can therefore also be used with double-sided SSDs. The lower memory modules on double-sided SSDs are thus enabled to dissipate heat to the motherboard.
Installation - First, carefully try the 3 included thermal pads by positioning the different thermal pads and installing the SSD on them.
- With the correct thermal pad, the SSD can be screwed on without much pressure and has good contact with the thermal pad
- Then remove the protective films from the selected thermal pad and position it on the motherboard and install the SSD on it.
- Then peel off the protective films from the thermal adhesive film and stick them to the aluminium radiator.
- Now install the cooler with the thermal adhesive film on the SSD and wait 30 minutes to give the adhesive time to activate.
