Introduction:
A Follow Focus is a focus control mechanism used in film and video cameras. It is ergonomic and not necessarily necessary, that is, it does not contribute to the basic functionality of a camera, but allows the operator to be more efficient and accurate. It is usually powered by a focuser, but some camera operators prefer to draw their own focus.
The mechanism works through a set of gears on the follow-up focus attached to the teeth on the focus ring of the lens. These gears lead to a wheel that rotates the teeth and thus the ring on the lens when rotated by a focus puller.
