The patented Baader AstroSolar® Safety Film 5.0 is made for visual and photographic observation of the sun at high magnification (with additional optics) - for use with telescopes and binoculars, as well as for camera and telephoto lenses. With AstroSolar® Safety Film 5.0 – mounted in front of your lens – you can photograph the sun while using the camera viewfinder in complete safety – or look directly at the sun with any magnification through a telescope or a field engraver. The coating of the AstroSolar® Safety Film 5.0 is subjected to constant quality control. The filter effect and its safety for sun observation are measured regularly. The strength of sunlight is reduced by 99.999% to less than 1:100,000 in the AstroSolar® Safety Film with an optical density (OD) of 5.0. The coating on both sides of the AstroSolar® Safety Film 5.0 ensures an excellent uniformity of the filter effect and neutralises those occasionally occurring microscopic holes in the coating, which cannot be avoided even with expensive, single-sided glass filters. A single layer of AstroSolar® Safety Film 5.0 is enough to produce a safe sun filter with the highest sharpening performance for your telescope, binoculars, spotting scope or camera lens. We have been manufacturing this film for over 25 years. Important note: The standard EN ISO 12312-2:2015 for eye safety when using naked eye sunglasses is not valid for lens filters for use on remote optics. AstroSolar® Safety Film 5.0 must not be used for naked eye observation without additional optics or for the manufacture of solar vision glasses. For direct solar observation without telescope, binoculars or camera, please ask for our EN ISO 12312-2:2015 certified solar vision glasses with AstroSolar® silver/gold film.
