The "500" in the name and the worldwide limited edition to 500 pieces, are derived from the 500,000th Phono Box that Pro-Ject delivered at the beginning of 2018. We now want to celebrate this milestone with a very special specimen: the polished chrome surface outshines any competitor in its price class and offers undeniable aesthetics. Underneath is a copper housing, which is known to suppress high-frequency interference. The internal design has also been upgraded. We now offer a fully discreet, OpAmp free design that allowed us to achieve an incredibly harmonious sound. In addition, we decided to use polystyrene capacitors, which significantly contribute to the high-end sound of the Phono Box ultra 500. These capacitors are commonly known in the audiophile scene as the holy grail for phono precursors.
