Description

How the pieces allinterlock perfectly with one another. Putting them on a pattern sheet. It makes fascinating designs. With older students, invitethem to try to figure out which shapes will fit together. After thatintroduction, have them make tessellations. These are a great value.

The shapes are designed perfectly sized so that twotrapezoids are the same size as the hexagon and you can put the triangletogether to make a trapezoid or a hexagon. Children learn what shapes can be combined tomake the bigger shapes, so they also work well to teach fractions.

Let them sort them by shape and color and makepatterns (repeating shapes and colors). In small groups, I model fitting theshapes together for them and let them experiment with covering a surface withshapes.

The box comes witha few example pattern cards for ideas. Made of real wood and the paint on all of minewere great, not chipped. The paint did not chip off during play either. You can stack them to make shapes or lay them down.Endless possibilities tomake beautifulpatterns and works of art.

Match them to outlines on mats to make animals, letters, whatever. I have somesmaller patterns that she is learning to follow as well. It is teaching her tocount because she has to gather the right number of pieces and they have to bethe right shape and color. Great learning resource.
