●As a digital multiplexer/demultiplexer, the VEE is connected to GND (usually earthed).

Description:
The 74HC4051 is a single pole analog octal switch (SP8T) that is suitable for analogue or digital 8:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer applications.
The switch has three digital selection inputs (S0, S1 and S2), eight independent input/outputs (Yn), a common input/output (Z) and a digital release input (E). When E is high, the switches are switched off. The inputs contain clamping diodes. This allows the use of current limiter resistors to connect inputs with voltages via VCC.
