1924, in the small village of Volmarstein in weather on the Ruhr: This was a time when people were still going to the light playhouse to watch silent films, when children played on barely passable roads and computers were still pure future music. But August Bremicker succeeded in 1924 with his sons the masterpiece of launching a padlock that was pioneering for his future and that of his family: the "Iron Rock".
At that time, the family began developing and producing padlocks in the forge in the basement of their residence. With strong competition: Because in Volmarstein and the surrounding area there were many such forges during this time. But August Bremicker and his sons were so successful that the company quickly grew to 30 employees. So in 1929, the family business bought a production facility in the Hegestraße in Volmarstein, which is still in operation today. At the end of the 1930s, ABUS already counted approx. 300 employees. After the war, August Bremickers sons dared a bold new beginning, which is still pioneering for the companys success.
