Why can I adjust my newton telescope so well?
The design of the Cheshire eyepiece offers several advantages: an optimised length and a simultaneous adjustment of the main and catch mirrors.
Is this a problem with other adjustment eyepieces? Yes, because only with the optimised short design you can easily judge the pictures of both mirrors. With a longer tube, the image would be vignetted and not symmetrically illuminated in the focus.
