Rubber hammer recommended

The pegs can be best and most gently with a camping hammer or Hammer rubber mallet.

To prevent possible damage in very hard or To avoid rocky soil, make sure that the peg penetrates the ground without too much resistance. If the resistance is too large, you need to re-align the peg to avoid damage.
