A gambeson is almost indispensable for the show fight and free combat.
The Gambeson, also known as gambison, armour wams or acetone, was worn in the Middle Ages under the plate armour and chain armour. It increased the wearing comfort of these steel armours and could also absorb generic shocks and thus reduce the risk of injury.
This very high quality Gambeson from Ulfberth is made from multiple layers of fabric: an outer layer of solid, durable cotton canvas fabric, two pure wool paddings and a soft cotton lining.
