Slides and negatives always have small dust particles and tiny scratches even with very careful treatment. Removing them individually takes a lot of time, as the original image often contains hundreds or thousands of small errors (dust grains or lint) that only become visible after digitisation. Plustek OpticFilm has a reliable solution to this problem.
The OpticFilm 8300i scanner has an infrared channel that finds dust and scratches on the film surface. The infrared light has a very wide wavelength, which allows it to pass through the film emulsion of negatives and slides without resistance, unlike scratches and dust particles that reflect it.
iSRD uses this behavior as follows (Automatic)
Step 1: Use white light for regular RGB scan.Step 2: Use an infrared scan that only captures errors such as dust and scratches.Step 3: Make the dust and scratch on the picture.Step 4: Calculative dust and scratch removal only grips where the infrared channel has detected errors without losing important details.
