Bitless bridle with effect of a Scawbrig
The Scawbrig is a relatively simple, yet effective version of a bitless bridle. It consists only of a lock halter without chin strap, in which a leather strap is guided through the side rings under the chin. This strap has a ring at its ends on which the reins are hung. When the rider takes on the reins, this chin strap pulls on the rings of the lock halter so that pressure is applied to the horses nose and chin. It is important that the chin strap is relatively narrow so that it can glide easily and the reins give in an immediate decrease in pressure. The Scawbrig originally comes from England and is more commonly found there.
