Almost 100 years ago, Shozaburo Shimano, a knife smith from Japanese Sakai, developed a freewheel hub in the Shimano Iron Works whose quality and performance resisted all the technical challenges of the time, thus significantly shaped the development of the bike. The beginning of a company history that is deeply rooted with its beginnings in the Japanese industrial metropolis, but never lost sight of the future.
Shift systems, brakes, e-bike drives, pedals, shoes, apparel - numerous of these milestones opened up improved possibilities of cycling over years.
