Information on electrical and electronic equipment The following information is intended for private households using electrical and/or electronic equipment. 1. Notes on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment and the meaning of the symbol according to Annex 3 to the ElektroG: owners of old equipment must supply them to a separate collection from the unsorted municipal waste. Electrical and electronic waste must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, does not belong in household waste. Rather, these old devices must be collected separately and disposed of via the local collection and return systems. Owners of old devices also have to separate old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the old device from it before being delivered to a detection point. The latter does not apply if the old equipment according to § 14 paragraph 5 sentence 2 and 3 ElektroG is separated from other old equipment in the context of opting by the public disposal carriers for the purpose of preparation for reuse in order to prepare them for reuse. Using the symbol according to Appendix 3 to the ElektroG, owners can recognise old equipment that must be recorded separately from the unsorted municipal waste. The symbol for the separate detection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed out wheelie bin on wheels. 2. Notes on the possibilities of returning old devices: owners of old equipment can dispense it within the framework of the possibilities for the return or collection of old equipment established and available by public waste disposal agencies to ensure proper disposal of the old equipment. If necessary, it is also possible to dispense electrical and electronic equipment for the purpose of reusing the devices.
