Description

Dholak measures approx. 7" tenor head, 9" base head and 16" - 17" long. Deluxe two-headed wooden drum. The heads are held in place by cords and rings and are held horizontally and both heads are played. In India, these extremely popular percussion instruments are widely used in folk music and wedding ceremonies. The shells are made in the North Indian State of SG Music. Locally grown neem and rosewood are used. After transport to Mumbai, the goatskin heads are attached to the drum bowls with traditional leather cord.
