Description

In the mid-11th century, the Muslim Turks conquered Syria and the holy land from the Christians. When Pope Urban II preached at a synod in November 1095 the moral necessity that Western Europe would have to support the help-seeking Byzantine Emperor Alexios I and his army in the counterattack against the Seljuk (Turks), the 1st Crusade "Deus lo volt= Gott willes" was the famous saying of the Pope.

The 5 Crusades took place between the years 1095 and 1279 and were military expeditions of the Occident whose goals were the reconquest of Jerusalem and the "Holy Land". The sword and dagger were vital companions for every crusader on this long and dangerous journey with numerous skirmishes and raids. Arrived in the "Holy Land", the crusaders often had to prevail against an overpowerful Islamic army.

Famous army leaders of these crusades were Saladin on the side of the Turks and the German Emperor Barbarossa, as well as Richard the Lionheart, who was fatally hit by a crossbow arrow during the Third Crusade.

This knight kneels down with humility before God and thank you for the good homecoming. The special thing about this figure is the included ballpoint pen, which looks like a sword. A special gift, not only for the friends of knighthood.
