Neutral density filters (or ND filters) produce a neutral gray tone and are used in photography to reduce light, allowing better control over exposure and depth of field without affecting color contrast. NDs are also available in gradient filters, both in hard and soft edge. These filters are clear in the lower half of the filter with a gradual transition to the ND effect in the upper half. They are mainly used for light reduction in skylines of landscape shots. The reverse degree is an important tool if you want to take sunrise or sunset shots. This is because the ND part of the degree is upside down, with the darker part in the middle of three filters and the lighter part at the top. This is the maximum light reduction when the sun is on or near the horizon. ND Reverse Grads are manufactured in different densities according to the degree of light reduction from 1 to 3 light levels. This 100mm filter can be used with Hi-Tech 100mm mounting systems or any 100mm mount. The 0.3 filter reduces light by 1 stop. The filter is 100mm wide but 150mm long, so it can be moved up and down in the bracket to easily align the graduation line with the horizon. The filter is also available in sizes 85mm, 150mm and 165mm. Hi-tech filters are made from high quality 1.5mm optical resin.
