These Forgefix wing nuts are a practical alternative to the standard hex nuts, and allow for hand tightening instead of using wrenches or other tools. Nuts are bright zinc plated for increased corrosion resistance. Also known as the "thumb screw", the wing nut has two large metal "wings" for easy tightening and loosening. Application: anywhere a hand tightened attachment is required. Used where frequent adjustments are required or parts can be made quickly at a later date. Can be used with all threaded bolts. Zinc coatings prevent oxidation of the protected metal to create a longer lasting finish. This is done by forming a barrier and acts as a sacrificial anode when this barrier is damaged. Zinc oxide is a fine white dust that (unlike iron oxide) does not cause degradation of the surface integrity of the substrate as it is formed.
