What are spring washers.
Spring washers are locking washers used when it is necessary for a fastener to loosen due to vibration. Spring rings can also be called split ring or split ring washers.

How does the spring washer work?
A spring washer has a gap in the washer that when each side of the gap is tightened into the nut and the mounting surface. This prevents the occurrence counterclockwise under vibrations. Spring washers use clamping force to lock the nut. When the washer is tightened under load, the vertical ends of the washer grip the nut and tie against it.
