Isolate It! Sorbothane acoustic and vibration insulation films are versatile anti-vibration pads that can be used on many different applications. The unique Sorbothane ultra-soft urethane is a durable, resilient polymer that provides excellent vibration insulation and non-slip properties. Sorbothane insulators help absorb shock and noise and have excellent aging resistance, they will not harden or crack over time. They feature a smooth, clean, black urethane finish. Use them on any audio and electronic device to prevent skipping and interference.

More is not better. A large, lightly loaded sheet has a high spring rate and will not deflect away enough to provide good insulation. Overcompression leads to short service life. The correct compression range is 3 to 20 percent depending on the "form factor". Form factor is the ratio of the contact surface (one-sided) divided by circular area geometry counts. Small circular pieces and rings "bulge" better than squares and rectangles. "Bulgeability" provides better insulation. Use many small discs instead of a few large rectangles for best vibration insulation. Thickness counts. The thicker the blade, the lower the natural frequency. You will need a sheet that is at least 1 inch thick to reduce your natural frequency to 10 hertz. (10 Hertz is your target natural frequency for a 900 RPM motor.) Use the natural stickiness of Sorbothane or apply 3M #80 spray adhesive to stick the Sorbothane to metal, plastic and other surfaces. This sheet is perfect for cutting to the needs of special applications or can be used altogether. Can be used with a sharp cutter knife or scissors. Apply the sheet as a whole or use it to coat the inside of speakers or device housings to provide sound insulation. 1cm Sorbothane can isolate up to 40dB sound.
