Installation:
SOFT WOOD:
If you use these 1/4-20 threaded inserts in softer woods and plywood, cut external threads easily into the wood, so simply drill a hole for the body of the insert and screw it tightly.
Recommended hole size for softwood: 8.5mm, 9mm. (Please choose the right drill according to the hardness of your material)
Please note: thread diameter for 1/4-20 x 15mm/20mm is 10.4mm.
Please note: thread diameter for 1/4-20 x 10mm is 9.9mm.
Hardwood: (beware of hard materials).
If you use these 1/4-20 threaded inserts in hardwoods such as white oak and maple, drill a hole near the male thread. If the drill hole is too small for the thread, the wood or insert nut may be screwed in.
Recommended drill hole size for hardwood: 10mm.
[10mm hole is not for 1/4-20 x 10mm threaded insert because the outer diameter is only 9.9mm]
