The Nuovo Milano cutlery set
The Nuovo Milano range was designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1987 by creating a traditional cutlery model in a contemporary form. The elements of this series are characterised by soft and rounded shapes, which feel very good in the hand, like the touch of a stone polished by the sea. Nuovo Milano is one of the most complex series in the Alessi catalogue, which presents a selection of 26 different types of cutlery. They are made of stainless steel, according to the wishes of Sottsass, all the elements to offer a table "beautiful cover", in this sense, this collection of cutlery is a classic of contemporary design, from XV. "Compasso doro" award.

Ettore Sottsass
(1917-2007) Born in Innsbruck, internationally recognised as one of the initiators of the renewal of design and architecture. Thanks to it, the stiff functionalism of the pre and post-war years of the Second World War could be overcomed. In the language of the great and influential master of Italian design, potential energy and vitality expresses themselves in design and colour, contrasting with any kind of intellectualism and stiffness.
The company
The Alessi company opened in 1921 as a "Technical Workshop for the Processing of Brass and Nickel Silver Plates, with Foundry" has always been known for the upscale quality of its products.
Over almost a century, it has gradually become a top representative of Italian design forgeds, who applies its outstanding competence and expertise in the field of design management to very different product types.
The company is open to change and international development, but at the same time firmly rooted in the tradition and cultural heritage of its environment. Alessiis still synonymous with objects that impress with their craftsmanship qualities, but are manufactured with the help of machines.

Most of the Alessi objects are still produced in Italy since its establishment in 1921, and by cold-working metal, which the skilled workers in Crusinallo di Omegna are responsible for.
Over time, Alessi has also incorporated other materials such as porcelain, glass, wood and plastic into the range and each has developed a special type of production. Also for external production, outside the Crusinallo factory, Alessis guidelines ensure the same high quality standards as in their own home, with always being conveyed between technical-industrial complexity and attention to the artisanal details.
Non-metal objects are manufactured in different production sites worldwide. They are and remain original Alessi objects, because they are based on the same high-class approach to design and the same pursuit of quality that distinguish all of the companys products.
