Description

Material description: Vermiculite is an aluminium-magnesium sheet silicate. Vermiculite is recognised as an ecologically high-quality material. Vermiculite is also available as a premium plate with a density of 1150 kg/m3. We recommend the use of the Vermiculite premium plate for thermally stressed parts (smoke deflection plate). Material properties Vermiculite has a comparatively lower heat capacity. This raises the combustion chamber temperature. Consequently, both the emission values are improved and the contamination of the lens is significantly reduced. Technical data, classification temperature: 1100 °C, gross density 625 kg/m³, humidity 1 – 1.5% after expansion, commercial hygiene: no risk of silicosis, fire behaviour: non-flammable, classification A1 according to EN 14 317-1, thermal conductivity, calculation value: λ0.07 W/mK according to DIN 4108 Material processing Vermiculite panels can be easily sawn, drilled, milled and sanded with woodworking tools. This saves high processing fees. Material disposal Due to the porous structure, the crushed material is suitable as an excellent water reservoir in potting soil.
