Since the Middle Ages, Solingen has been the heart of the European cutting industry and enjoys an excellent reputation, far beyond the national borders. Certificate that the cutting goods industry can be used in Solingen until the 14th century, the production of swords is proven. During this time, the first grinding deposits were created along the Wupper, small barn-like workshops where rotary grinding stones were driven with hydropower. At the latest in the 16th century, knives and cutlery were also made in Solingen. As a further supplementary industry, scissor production was finally added. Herbertz is part of this history and has been at home in Solingen for over 150 years.
Carl Julius Herbertz began cutting goods production in 1868, at a time when the use of the steam engine as a source of energy increased greatly and the forging process was almost completely mechanised. Carl Julius Herbertz was a farmer and began making knives in Aulersch Kotten in Hübben, a so-called courtyard.
Over the last 150 years, the range of Herbertz has continually developed. In addition to the well-known Herbertz knives, you can also find various outdoor equipment, such as compasses, field bottles, multi-tools, whetstones or knife chains in the range. What has remained unchanged over time is passion and competence. Herbertz is one of the leading suppliers of knives today. Every 31 seconds a knife from Herbertz is sold somewhere in the world.

One-handed knifeOne-handed knife can be opened by an opening aid with one hand. In the use of craftsmen, but also in leisure, not only knife connoisseurs appreciate that a hand remains free for other activities when opening the folding knife. |
Pocket knifeSmall and compact, these functional knives in trouser and jacket pockets are just as welcome companions for every day. In addition to the standard models, there are also hunting knives or fishing knives with additional tools. |
MultitoolsWhether at work, hobby or leisure, multi-tools with their different accessories are a proven helper in everyday life. In addition to the pliers, a good multi-tool also has other tools such as saw, knife, bottle opener or screwdriver. |
Belt knifeBelt knives have a fixed blade and are not foldable. Thanks to the robust construction, they are ideal for use in outdoor and hunting areas. For this reason, these knives are often also called outdoor knives or survival knives. |
