African elephant babies grow 20 to 22 months in their mothers body before they see the light of the world. Elephant cows have the longest wearing time of all mammals.

It also acts like a pleasant "cool pack" against the scorching heat. With their big ears, elephants cant hear better than other animals, but they help them cope with the African heat. When they fan with their ears, the blood in it cools down and provides refreshment.
