B-17F Memphis Belle
The Boeing B-17 was founded in the 2nd World War synonymous with the heavily armed strategic bombers. The Boeing B-17F was the first Flying Fortress to be mass produced. The most famous machine from this series was a B-17F, delivered on 15th July 1942 and at the 324th Bomber Squadron was service in England. The crew gave her the name Memphis Belle after the girlfriend of the pilot Lt. Robert K. Morgan Her celebrity resulted from the fact that she officially survived 25 missions as the first bomber of the US Army Air Force in Europe and became the star of a Hollywood Propaganda film. After this use, the Memphis Belle was ordered with its crew in the USA. Later, it was bought by the city of Memphis and placed under the open sky as a memorial. A total of 12,677 machines of the type B-17 were manufactured.
