When the small bicycle shop opened in Wassenaar in the Netherlands in 1957, no one knew that cycling professionals and athletes from all over the world would trust Tacx roller trainers. But in turn – the offer of the bicycle shop founded by Koos Tacx Senior grew steadily as the bicycle enthusiastic founder was also a tinker. As early as the 1960s, he had a flash of mind that heralded a revolution in cycling training. He designed the principle of free roll, a training device consisting of 3 wheels mounted in a frame, on which is driven on the spot for warm-up or winter training. In the following years, the so-called wheel-on roller trainer was derived from the free role - for an easier start to training. The Dutch manufacturer reached another milestone in 2000 with the presentation of the first smart, computer-controlled bicycle home trainers, on which the current Direct-Drive trainers are also built.
