The central piece of equipment when climbing climbing is the via ferrata set. Like an umbilical cord, it connects climbers with the wire rope. All our via ferrata sets are manufactured in our own sewing factory in Isny and are certified according to the revised standard for via ferrata sets EN835:2017. Modern via ferrata sets have a Y-shape and consist of two carabiners, which are connected via two branches with a textile band fall absorber. By tearing the band shock absorber, the fall energy (catch shock) is absorbed in the event of a fall, and the fall is thus dynamically braked. However, it must be noted that a fall in via ferrata, unlike sports climbing, must be avoided. The via ferrata set serves only as life insurance, but does not protect against injuries in the event of a fall. The via ferrata set is knotted directly into the tie loop of the climbing harness via a sewn-in strap by means of anchor stitching. To ensure that the secure connection between the via ferrata and the wire rope remains stable, at least one carabiner must be hung on the wire rope at all times. In order to have redundancy in the system, however, except when hanging on an anchor, both carabiners should always be hung. Large carabiners with wrist lock make it easier to handle when hanging and prevent the carabiners from accidentally unhooking themselves. Elastic band constructions allow for body-hugging handling of the carabiners. Integrated swivel prevents twisting of the branches when hanging.
